We have a vacancy within our Engineering Department and are currently recruiting for the role of Project Lead on a fixed term basis for 9 months. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.

Location: Accrofab Alcester Limited B49 6EH

Shift Pattern: 39 hours per week working the Day Shift; 07.30 to 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 07.30 to 12.30 Fridays with designated.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Operational Control

* Support the "internal customer" (Manufacturing Manager) by sharing agreed objectives on EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery and participating in the Operational Control model.
* Contribute to the delivery of the EHS Model, by leading in Job Safety Observations. Ensuring "Gold Standard" practices are read across to all future development work
* Understand the process constraints and operating rules of the value stream covered in the NPDI role and lead problem-solving exercises to improve flow where relevant.
* Ensure the teams capabilities to be able to support all potential NPDI needs. For example, organising training for team members willing to develop their abilities.
* Ensure that a motivational approach is provided to all team members. For example, ensuring that the working environment is satisfactory and allows every team member to effectively perform their role.
* Ensure that all team members have opportunities to effectively contribute. And that their contribution is valued and constructively critiqued toward their development.

Compliance and New Product Introduction & Development (NPDI)

* Implement and/or project manage the NPDI process through the defined gated process. Providing detailed and clear plans on achieving customer requirements.
* Control the standard of manufacturing documentation such as set-up packs, stage drawings, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc
* Take accountability for the relevant milestones in the NPDI gated process and fulfilling all engineering tasks defined in that process (eg: prepare cost estimates, producing stage drawings, creating manufacturing routes, gaining customer approval, etc).
* Plan & act to deliver the NPDI milestones under the scope of the role are delivered on time, within budget, and comply to customer specification.
* Ensure that all necessary tooling which is required to support a safe, robust and efficient manufacturing process is designed, manufactured and available to support relevant milestones.
* Use relevant Engineering software to create and validate CNC output which meet cycle time and quality requirements.
* Effectively delegate actions to team members, clearly defining the required outcome to be achieved in accordance with the company's procedures. With a robust and defined communication method, tracking the status of said actions.

Create Competitive Advantage

* Develop a continuous improvement "pipeline" of activities by supporting LEAN Events and generating individual ideas to improve EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance around the NPDI process. For example, by developing tooling strategies to reduce tooling usage and cost, developing actions to reduce process cycle times and improve productivity/throughput, developing actions to eliminate quality defects, and working to create a safe and environmentally compliant workplace.
* Apply problem-solving methodologies to define and solve problems at root cause as a method of improving operational performance, in particular on process capability and quality problems.
* Participate in problem-solving peer reviews, training and awareness activities to help the organisation develop a strong problem-solving culture.
* Implement and/or project manage problem solutions through (but not limited to) working with external suppliers, working with customers, proving out improved technologies and programmes, completing Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities, etc.

* D - Up to and including A level (or equivalent)
* E - Up to and including degree level (or equivalent): (HNC Engineering related discipline)
