Director of Housing and Property Services (Interim)
Location: Bristol
Contract: Interim - 6 months initially
Day Rate: £Negotiable (dependent on experience)
Sellick Partnership Ltd is working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit a Director of Housing and Property Services for an initial six-month assignment based in Bristol.
The Role
This senior leadership role is responsible for delivering high-quality, affordable and energy-efficient homes across the council. The postholder will ensure sound financial and environmental returns from property and glebe assets, including developments and disposals, and provide strategic oversight and expert advice on buildings and land ownership.
The role will lead Housing Property Services to support organisational and community development, ensuring services are compliant, customer-focused and aligned with wider council priorities.
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Housing and Property Services
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of property-related services, including property management, development, health and safety, and net zero carbon initiatives.
Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of housing property services, including repairs, planned maintenance and upgrades to the council's housing stock.
Lead responses to cross-cutting issues including asset management, IT contracts, equality, diversity and inclusion, and accessibility of services.
Develop and deliver housing policies, strategies and service improvement plans in collaboration with senior colleagues and service users.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation, including the Regulator of Social Housing's consumer standards, and lead preparation for and responses to regulatory inspections.
Champion resident engagement, ensuring feedback is captured and used to drive continuous service improvement.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree educated and/or holding a relevant professional qualification, with significant post-qualification experience.
Proven senior leadership and people management experience, with the ability to motivate, develop and inspire teams through effective performance management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including producing reports and presentations at council and committee level, and translating complex property data for non-specialist audiences.
