The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for validating and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the appropriate computer system. Duties may also include communicating with physician offices, insurance carriers, and patient follow-ups. Notify patients of their responsibilities and answer questions regarding their benefits. Verify primary/secondary payor protocol and seek pre-authorizations. Meets daily production goals as directed by management. Obtains prior authorizations for patient admission and treatment (inpatient/outpatient). Informs patients of financial responsibilities and assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 1+ year experience in insurance verifications
* 1+ year experience in billing
* Hospital setting experience preferred
* Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
* Computer proficiency, including with Microsoft Office programs
