Lead Radiotherapy Engineering Engineer – responsible for maintaining and repairing complex radiotherapy equipment, ensuring highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair complex patient‑critical radiotherapy equipment.
* Apply electronic, electrical, mechanical, gas and water under pressure and vacuum system knowledge.
* Operate within quality management system and ensure compliance with legislation and professional guidelines (IR(ME)R, IRR, H&SWA, COSHH, F‑Gas, Medical Device Regulations).
* Lead line management, staff appraisal and supervise students and trainees.
* Communicate technical information across professional boundaries.
* Contribute to service development and research activities.
Qualifications & Education
* Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent high‑level qualification in a relevant engineering or science‑based discipline.
* Recognised relevant equivalent engineering apprenticeship or vocational qualification.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of maintenance and repair of complex radiotherapy equipment.
Desirable Criteria
* Membership of IPEM or other equivalent professional body.
* Registered as a Clinical Technologist (RCT).
* Recognised leadership / management qualification.
* Relevant manufacturer training courses.
* Training and experience as a quality auditor; involvement with quality management systems.
* Experience supervising students and trainees; teaching, mentoring or coaching.
Skills & Abilities
* Logical diagnosis of complex component and system faults on patient critical medical equipment.
* Ability to communicate complex information across all professional boundaries.
* Ability to relate confidently with and motivate staff of all grades and disciplines.
* Evidence of publications / presentations, collaboration with other organisations, service development or research work.
