King Edwin Primary School based in Amble, is a vibrant, friendly and welcoming learning community where we believe if you’re ready to try, you’re ready to fly. We are a growing, dedicated team who strive for the best outcomes for all of our pupils. In October 2024, we moved into a newly refurbished site on South Avenue and in September 2025 we became a primary school with our first Year 6 cohort.
We are looking for someone to join our team of highly experienced teaching assistants who will support our children, working with small groups and individuals, both in and out of the classroom starting in January 2026.
Applicants must have NVQ Level 2 or 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification as well as GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Grade 4 or above.
Previous experience of working with children in a primary school setting is essential.
The successful candidate will also provide support as a lunchtime supervisor.
Teaching assistant duties Level 2 Band 3: 27.5 hours per week initailly, with a variable contract MIN 20hrs MAX 30hrs.
* Plan and deliver RWI Phonics, English, Maths and social/SEND interventions as directed by the class teacher
* Support pupils to access work in the classroom
* Engage proactively with children on the yard at breaktimes
* Work closely with the staff team to promote and encourage high expectations of behaviour
Lunchtime assistant duties Band 1 - 5 hours per week:
* supervising pupils while they eat in the dining hall
* promoting good table manners and a calm, respectful environment
* maintaining high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the dining room
* help to facilitate engaging, inclusive, and safe play experiences during lunchtime
* provide first aid where appropriate.

TA Role £16,068 Actual Salary (£25,583 FTE) Band 3 SCP 5
LSA Role £2,791 Actual Salary (£24,413 FTE) Band 1 SCP 2
Starting date January 2026.
