We are looking for an experienced kitchen porter to assist the chefs in the day to day operations of a busy Lakeland hotel kitchen catering to both residents and non-residents. Starting rate £12.80/hr, plus 2 meals a day, 7 days a week. Wifi available in the staff accommodation.
An essential role this is a hard job encompassing all aspects of kitchen hygiene, following cleaning schedules, daily, weekly and monthly. Working a mixture of split and straight shifts, 5 days out of 7. Progression is available from this role for candidates wishing to take on responsibility and advance their careers.
The hotel operates daily breakfast and dinner services in its well-appointed restaurant as well as extremely busy adjoining bar serving traditional Lakeland dishes to a very high standard. Our kitchen is extremely busy and dishes are prepared to order using local ingredients.
Experience is not essential as all training can be provided however a good, out going work ethic is needed.
Free off site accommodation is available as well 2 meal per day regardless if you are working or not, 28 days paid holiday per year, the hotel closes for 3 weeks in January to give our hard working staff a rest after a busy festive period, entry to company pension, share of gratuities, staff discount, staff party and the opportunity to join a well-established and experienced team in one of the most picturesque areas of the country.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the kitchen staff
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchenware
- Ensure proper storage of food items and supplies
- Dispose of trash and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of culinary techniques and food preparation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Good communication skills to work effectively with the kitchen team
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Note: Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar role is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
