Your new company
You will be joining an expanding consultancy focused on supporting innovation in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Its research division is dedicated to solving complex biological problems through advanced statistical modelling and ML/AI. They have an experienced team and are looking for an additional member to work on statistical method development and application to drug discovery and development.
Your new role
As a Senior Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
1. Designing and implementing novel statistical approaches for large-scale genomic datasets.
2. Developing models to understand genetic contributions to diseases and traits.
3. Refining analytical frameworks for better accuracy and interpretability.
4. Ensuring scientific rigour and reproducibility.
5. Translating complex outputs into insights for diverse audiences.
6. Collaborating with engineering teams to integrate methods into data pipelines.
7. Contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
8. Staying updated with emerging techniques in statistical genetics and bioinformatics.
While experience in pharma/biotech or consultancy is preferred, this role is also suitable for a recent PhD graduate or junior post-doc with strong statistical skills.
The position can be fully remote or based in one of the company's UK offices.
What you'll need to succeed
* PhD (or Master's with relevant experience) in statistics, maths, physics, data science, computing, statistical genetics, or related fields.
* Proven ability to develop and validate statistical models.
* Strong programming skills in R or Python.
* Experience with large genomic datasets and bioinformatics tools.
* Familiarity with cloud computing platforms.
* Publication record demonstrating methodological contributions.
* Excellent communication skills.
