DESCRIPTION
Are you an innovative engineer who wants to design the next generation of world-class fulfillment centers and logistics systems across the globe? Do you want a high level of ownership in solving complex problems? Does designing intralogistics systems that leverage groundbreaking automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and robotics appeal to you? If so, we have the job for you!
We're looking to add a high-impact engineer to our team in Europe / United Kingdom. A successful candidate will have an established background in creating high-performance physical systems, strong technical problem-solving abilities, excellent project management skills, and an internal motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.
In this role, you will partner with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our fulfillment and distribution systems. You will own multiple projects simultaneously, from concept realization through design approval. You will be our suppliers' primary point of contact for your projects. Once the design is completed and approved, you will hand-off the project to our Ops Engineering team, who will oversee installation and commissioning. You will continue working with that team to ensure successful installation, commissioning, and launch.
Your projects will include greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit initiatives. Our team designs fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, specialty facilities (e.g., reverse logistics, hazmat), and ground and air transportation centers throughout North America and Europe. Projects will vary from template-based to custom-designed solutions.
Key job responsibilities
1. Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions to complex material flow/transformation and human/machine efficiency problems throughout the global Amazon supply chain.
2. Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment and transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
3. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time.
4. Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external partners, contractors, and vendors.
5. Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects.
6. Effectively communicate the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions to senior executives, making a compelling business case.
We work with a team of highly skilled engineers in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment, designing the next generation of fulfillment centers and logistics systems.
