Hours: 39 hours full time, flexible hours including late night (until 9pm), weekend & bank holiday working on a rota basis.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Outpatient Pharmacy Dispenser to join a dedicated team working in the outpatients pharmacy at James Cook University Hospital. The post holder will be a key member of the outpatients pharmacy team, making major contributions to the daily workflow to ensure outstanding quality services for customers and service users.
Under the leadership of the Pharmacy Manager, the successful candidates will deliver outstanding services, ensuring that these are provided in accordance with the relevant professional, ethical, legal and locally agreed policies, procedures and standards.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will work to accurately select and label medications from prescriptions. In addition, the post holder will provide relevant and professional counselling and advice to customers and service users. Other responsibilities include providing expert advice on over the counter products, operating tills and IT systems, receiving, storing, rotating and ordering stock as necessary.
We are looking for a motivated and positive individual who can contribute to the efficiency of the outpatient pharmacy services, with outstanding customer satisfaction and communication skills. Applying candidates should be strong team players, be flexible to change and have confidence to effectively liaise with other health care professionals in a hospital setting.
Applicants must have a BTec/NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent and previous dispensing experience.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Be positively aware of the code of ethics as laid down by the GPhC
2. Evidence of strong knowledge of over-the-counter products
3. Able to work on own initiative and develop role
4. Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and targets
5. Good understanding of current pharmacy/NHS issues
6. Evidence of strong knowledge of over-the-counter medicines.
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Previous experience in a community pharmacy
8. Able to interpret and analyse data / information and make an informed judgement based on it
Qualifications
Essential criteria
9. GCSEs A-C (Maths & English) or equivalent qualification or experience
10. BTec/NVQ level 2 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent.

It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and subsidiary companies that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS.
