The role
Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Baston House School – Kent BR2 7AB
Contract: Permanent. Term time only, or flexible around a full-time contract based on personal circumstances.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8:30am – 4:30pm, Mon – Fri). Part-time hours may be considered.
Salary: £35,000 – £53,200 FTE (DOE) plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus (paid in two £2,500 installments after probation and completion of final probation) plus relocation package (T&C apply).
Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Location details: Baston House School forms part of the Options Autism brand and is an independent specialist day school supporting children and young people aged 5–19.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with education teams to embed Speech and Language Therapy approaches at the whole-school level through assessment, observation, consultation, training, and joint interventions.
* Support pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, are neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs; work within multidisciplinary teams guided by practice standards and supervision.
* Maintain a high presence within school and classroom; coordinate staff training and provide regular reviews, reflections, and consultations with education staff.
* Contribute to and coordinate staff development and training; ensure a person-centred, empowering approach for pupils.
* Engage in safeguarding practices and promote pupil involvement in decisions affecting them.
Essential Criteria / Qualifications
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree
* Valid and up-to-date HCPC Registration
* Registered member of RCSLT
* Minimum 3 years’ experience with the client group in similar settings
* Advanced knowledge of core SaLT practice and RCSLT standards
* Experience in multidisciplinary working and in service and team performance
* Experience in working with families, carers, and in training/presentations
* Experience in supervision, research, and audits
* Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
* Experience with neurodivergence, trauma-informed practice, and a range of approaches to SaLT
* Demonstrated ability to develop training and present information
