What You Will Do
The Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) role in the Emergency Department is diverse and involves essential emergency skills such as applying plaster casts, venipuncture, and cannulation. You will be responsible for patient assessments, meeting care needs, and contributing to improved nursing quality, including initiatives related to dementia and mental health.

The Emergency Department operates 24/7; flexibility to adapt to service needs is required.
Development and Working Patterns
* Work a variety of shifts as part of your roster: mornings (e.g., 7am‑3pm), short days & long days (generally 8–12 hours, 7am–8pm), evenings (until 8pm), and nights (approximately 7pm‑7am).
* Be available any day from Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays.
* There are no set shifts (e.g., nights only).
Your Main Day‑to‑Day Duties
* Washing and dressing patients and assisting with personal hygiene.
* Assisting patients to access and use toilet facilities.
* Serving meals and helping to feed patients.
* Helping patients to move safely around.
* Assisting with bed making, cleaning tasks, errands, or general duties.
* Collecting pathological specimens (e.g., urine, faeces, sputum).
* Making patients and their families feel comfortable.
