Senior SharePoint Document Management Engineer (12-month FTC/Secondment) – Bank of England

Overview
This fixed-term 12-month contract role requires a knowledgeable M365 specialist to support the Bank’s new approach to document and records management. The Bank is migrating from a legacy toolset to M365, primarily using SharePoint for document management, with Microsoft Purview extended by a custom Azure Cloud solution to meet records management requirements. The successful candidates will support the organisation during and after deployment and participate in on-call rotation covering evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
* Configure, manage, and troubleshoot SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams (architecture, governance, security, content management, channels, search).
* Support large-scale migrations to SharePoint Online.
* Work with Microsoft Purview (Records Labels and Policies; Information Protection Sensitivity Labels).
* Provide 3rd line support in a Service Level Agreement environment; document solutions and create knowledge base articles.
* Engage with external vendors for support; train end-users and SharePoint champions; participate in continuous improvement of SharePoint environments.
* BAU operational support for SharePoint, Teams, and other M365 products, including handling service requests and incidents.
Role Requirements
* Experience with Microsoft 365 suite, including hybrid AD identity management, backups/restoration for Teams and SharePoint Online, and large migrations to SharePoint Online.
* Microsoft Purview experience (Records Labels, Policies, Information Protection Sensitivity Labels).
* Experience in a third-line support role, diagnosing and resolving issues within SLAs; capable of creating end-user and IT documentation; ability to manage external vendor cases.
* Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI), PowerShell scripting.
* Networking concepts (Virtual Networks, Subnets, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, Data Gateway); Key Vaults and Storage Accounts; App Services, Function Apps, Azure SQL.
* Strong collaboration and communication skills; on-call experience; customer-focused problem solving.
Nice-to-have
* Microsoft accreditation; experience with SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate); familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban); knowledge of ITIL practices; Data Rights Management; Windows Server administration; Group Policy Objects in hybrid AD; on-call experience.
Additional Information
* Evenings/weekends may be required on live systems; compensation reflected in base salary; no extra remuneration for on-call or out-of-hours work.

* National Security Vetting applies; timing typically 6–12 weeks post offer.
