Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for a Project Manager to work on the design and build of a new substation in Suffolk. The contract with Scottish Power is to support their East Anglia windfarm in the Southern North Sea. The project forms a vital part of Britain's transition to renewable energy and Net Zero.
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all construction activities involved in the delivery of the works. This involves carrying out significant earth moving operations on the greenfield site, new roads and road junctions, reinforced concrete works and steel framed superstructures housing the next generation of equipment to deliver balanced renewable power into the National Grid. Design and environmental consent works are already underway, and construction will commence in spring next year with a planned handover and energisation to grid in December 2027.
Responsibilities
* Resource, develop and lead a team, defining and communicating project objectives and constraints and complying with health, safety and environmental legislation, thereby delivering the end product on time, within budget and to the agreed quality.
* Maximise profit whilst endeavouring to exceed all client expectations acting as the Taylor Woodrow senior site representative across the project
* Ensure individuals are aware of what is expected of them and assign individual responsibilities
* Develop individuals through coaching and training
* Management of designers, including providing direction for the design manager
* Production of information required schedules & subsequent monitoring
* Ensure materials, plant and sub-contractors are procured to meet targets
* Ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance with all HS&E legislation, and the site Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
* Review Health & Safety and investigate incidents, providing summary and recommendations
* Carryout periodic inspection of construction sites to ensure compliance
* Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards
* Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims
* Mitigate legal issues and defects liability for the business
* Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
* Decide on solutions to major issues and challenges
Person Specification
* Previous experience delivering civils infrastructure projects of over £30m with expertise in NEC contracts is required
* Formal qualification in a civil engineering or construction related subject is preferred
* Experience in delivering building projects is advantageous
* SMSTS card is essential
