Contracts Manager Opportunity
Due to our continued growth an opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Manager to join the team at Aptus.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the North East area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects.
As a Contracts Manager you will be responsible for managing multiple projects at any one time ranging in value from £100,000 up to £8,000,000. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent time management abilities, and proficiency in project management software.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the independent and autonomous management of all aspects of allocated projects.
· Able to report to higher management/clients on all relevant matters
· Responsible for managing site teams including Site Manager and sub-contract teams.
· Contract administration [JCT suite] including delays, delay loss and/or expense, extension of time, partial possession, and beneficial occupation etc
· Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
· Monitor contract performance and make recommendations for improvements
· Resolve any contract disputes or issues that may arise
Strong ability to:
· Develop construction programmes and monitor progress and slippage throughout the pre-construction and construction phase.
· Communicate with all members of the project teams including clients and the QS team regarding RFI’s, change orders.
· Chair meetings, preparing and distributing minutes and actions.
· Identify project risks and respective mitigation strategies
· Identify potential problems early/ before they arise and think both fast and strategically to overcome them.
· Oversee, coordinate and manage the defects process.
· Be proactive and manage own workload and work to tight deadlines.
· Understanding of JCT’s, NEC contracts.
About You:
Educated to professional level, you’ll have a thorough understanding and experience in the use of project management software and extensive knowledge in programme and project management. With excellent management skills and the ability to work well in a team environment, contributing across a business unit, you’ll be able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standard and quality.
Essential:
o Previous experience in a construction project/contracts manager role.
o Commercially aware with a strong focus on teamwork.
o Mentoring and working with colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience.
o Communicate and present in a professional manner, both written and verbally.
o Actively demonstrate initiative and able to work independently under pressure to meet deadlines efficiently.
o Good construction technical knowledge across relevant work packages
o Keen eye for detail, ability to draw on project experience to identify and mitigate risks
A full UK driving licence is essential.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent.
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £50k - £65k depending on experience
