Job Description
Purpose
* Implement production improvements within the manufacturing department, utilizing Lean Principles in line with quality and technical procedures.
* Provide innovative solutions to reduce manufacturing costs and improve safety within the factory environment.
* Plan, implement, and execute major improvement projects (Capex).
Primary Scope
* Introduce changes to factory layout, tooling, and methods of working.
* Execute production processes to ensure on-time delivery, respecting technical drawings, quality instructions, standard times, and equipment specifications.
* Maintain and update records for existing equipment and replace as necessary to maintain the company asset register.
* Manage projects from conception to completion, including realization of proposed benefits with all relevant documentation.
* Comply with GE LSP.
* Create specifications to facilitate tendering processes, ensuring value for money.
* Manage contractors working on projects from pre-assessment to onsite completion and handover.
* Update and maintain process documentation for production tasks and equipment.
* Support business Continuous Improvement initiatives as requested.
* Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures affecting Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (EHS).
* Implement and follow up on EHS activities to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Perform any other reasonable duties within individuals’ capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Industrial Engineers provide solutions such as tooling, equipment, specifications, and training to enable a stable production schedule.
* This role is vital for coordinating between engineering, manufacturing, and procurement, forming a key part of the successful manufacturing of transformers on time. Failure to do so can cost the business hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Duties
* Implement production improvements to reduce costs and improve lead times.
* Attend design reviews and identify potential production issues requiring resolution.
* Support manufacturing to ensure equipment and tooling are available as requested.
* Provide innovative health and safety solutions.
* Participate in Lean events to improve the business.
Skill Set
* Team player, proactive, forward thinker with the ability to provide innovative solutions to production problems.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience in a production engineering environment.
* Engineering qualification such as HNC / HND.
* Good organizational skills, capable of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
* Proficiency in CAD.
Successful candidates may be required to attend further in-house training and external courses to achieve the required technical and practical competence.

Stafford's location is ideal for research and advanced manufacturing, with a highly skilled workforce and central location in the UK's transport network.
