We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to work between 20 to 30 hours per week, depending on the needs of the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
As a General Practice Nurse, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of clinical areas. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing chronic/long-term conditions in a clinic setting
Health promotion and smoking cessation support
Cervical screening and breast awareness education
Wound care and routine immunisations (including childhood and flu)
Administering vaccinations (e.g. pneumococcal, shingles, pertussis in pregnancy)
Undertaking QOF/LES/DES clinical and administrative tasks
Requesting pathology tests such as swabs and urine cultures
Supporting patients through evidence-based practice
Youll be NMC registered and work collaboratively with our experienced team.

Job Summary
To deliver high-quality nursing care to patients and provide clinical support to GPs and the wider healthcare team, in line with best practice and current standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
* Chronic disease management and health promotion
* Cervical cytology and breast awareness education
* Wound care, removal of sutures, and ulcer management
* Routine and childhood immunisations
* Blood pressure checks, venepuncture, ECGs, peak flow readings
* Ear irrigation and urinalysis
* Assist with minor surgery and coil fittings
* Chaperoning patients during examinations or procedures
* Requesting basic pathology tests (e.g., urine samples, swabs)
Administrative & Equipment Support
* Maintain and clean treatment areas and clinical equipment
* Order stock, vaccines, and health promotion materials
* Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
* Assist with audits, quality improvement and infection control compliance
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to service development
Person Specification
Essential:
* NMC registration
* Experience in general practice or primary care settings
* Competent in chronic disease management, immunisations, wound care
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
Desirable:
* Community nursing experience
* Cervical cytology certification
* Experience with QOF, LES/DES
* Membership of RCN

Qualifications
* NMC Registration (Registered Nurse Adult)
* Cervical cytology training and up-to-date certification
* Membership of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
* Additional qualifications in chronic disease management or health promotion
* Immunisation training updates (e.g. flu, shingles, pertussis in pregnancy)
Experience
* Experience working in a general practice, primary care, or similar setting
* Proven competence in:
* Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension)
* Routine and childhood immunisations
* Wound care, suture removal, and ulcer management
* Basic clinical procedures: venepuncture, BP monitoring, ECGs, urinalysis
* Experience maintaining accurate clinical records
* Knowledge of infection control, safeguarding, and confidentiality protocols
* Comfortable using IT systems and electronic patient records
* Experience in a community nursing setting
* Familiarity with QOF, LES, and DES frameworks
* Experience assisting with minor surgery and/or contraceptive procedures (e.g. coil fittings)
* Use of EMIS or similar clinical systems
* Involvement in audit, quality improvement, or clinical governance
* Experience mentoring students or junior staff
