Dental Nurse
Welcome to Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. This full‑time Dental Nurse position is based in Milton Keynes and covers three sites: Eaglestone, Shipley Court and Urgent Care. The closing date for applications is 27 April 2026. Travel to all sites is essential.
We are looking for an experienced, IV‑trained and qualified dental nurse to assist dentists, dental therapists and hygienists in treating special‑care and paediatric patients. The postholder may also assist patients within secure units and must be qualified to administer general anaesthesia.
Responsibilities
* Maintain high standards in infection prevention control.
* Assist patients throughout their treatment journey.
* Provide chair‑side assistance for special‑care patients with learning or physical disabilities, complex medical conditions, or mental health conditions.
* Carry out dental treatment on a domiciliary basis.
* Assist in secure settings and under inhalation/intravenous sedation.
* Assist in general anaesthesia procedures.
* Support screenings or epidemiological surveys.
* Lead direct line management, supervision and annual appraisals.
* Maintain stock levels and perform clerical duties such as appointment making and telephone calls.
* Contribute to quality improvement projects and clinical governance.
Qualifications
* Good general education up to GCSE O level or NVQ level 3 (equivalent).
* Full registration with the General Dental Council.
* Additional relevant Dental Nurse Certificate and/or postgraduate qualification, where applicable.
Experience
* Current or recent experience working as a dental nurse with a clinical commitment in hospital, salaried or general dental services.
* Clerical experience with dental software packages.
* Ability to supervise trainees and unqualified staff.
* Experience providing care under general anaesthesia, intravenous and inhalation sedation, and domiciliary care.
* Experience conducting screenings or epidemiological surveys.
* Demonstrated knowledge of cross‑infection control standards.
* Understanding of equality, diversity and human rights policies.
* Experience with confidentiality procedures and line management.
* Experience working in secure settings and NHS specialised services.
