Consultant Community Paediatrician

The closing date is 18 November 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Community Paediatrician, based in beautiful Worcestershire. The post is offered as a substantive role at 10 PAs per week though consideration will be given to candidates looking for a more flexible approach. The Community Paediatric Service operates Monday to Friday, predominantly between the hours of 9am to 5pm, and there is no on‑call commitment with this role.

If you would like to join our friendly team, with a commitment to putting children and families at the heart of our service and providing ourselves with outstanding care to our patients, we can offer resources to develop and progress a long‑term career as well as flexibility, continual professional development, and a wide range of wellbeing initiatives and support.

Interviews are scheduled for 14 January 2026.

If you would like to discuss informally if this is the right role for you, get in touch with the Recruiting Manager details on the top‑right hand side of the advert.

Main duties of the job

The Community Paediatrics team supports children and families across Worcestershire.

The post holder will have responsibility for providing direct paediatric care to patients assigned to him/her and assuring a collaborative approach to treatment planning.

The Community Paediatricians within our team have a number of clinical responsibilities, currently including management of children and young people with developmental delay, neurodevelopmental concerns, neurodisability and epilepsy (for those attending special school). Hearing‑loss aetiology clinics are also offered. Community Paediatricians provide medical advice for the EHCP process for children under their care. Initial health assessments are offered for children in care and medical input into adoption services is provided as well as participation in child‑death review. Paediatricians also support safeguarding processes but do not undertake child‑protection medical examination.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with an interest in any of these areas.

The post holder will provide paediatric leadership to the multidisciplinary team and liaise with other agencies where necessary. Participation in teaching, clinical audit, quality assurance programmes and clinical governance is encouraged.
