Closing date: 13th March 2026 Help us create a better future, quicker As Head of Delivery, you’ll be responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplined team in delivering the safe provision of one, or more, of the following specific activities, with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and license obligations for the electricity distribution network; Operations & Maintenance Investment Projects Customer Projects What you’ll be doing Lead the team to deliver licence area / district business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives while maximising return on investment and optimising return through incentive mechanisms. Prepare and manage budgets and monitor appropriate cost information from relevant financial systems. Focus on minimising discretionary spend, ensure proactive control of costs and scheme closures within defined timescales. Analyse business performance to ensure ongoing delivery of outputs are completed within unit and authorised prime costs, to required quality standards and within required timescales, identifying opportunities for future improvement. Lead and drive the efficient and effective delivery of performance targets including, but not limited to: Customer Minutes Lost, Customer Interruptions; Broad Measure of Customer Satisfaction; Guaranteed Standards; Time to Connect Management of customer complaints Implement robust stakeholder and customer interfaces to facilitate the delivery and communication of short, medium and long-term plans and deliverables affecting local communities and stakeholders. Deliver robust short (6-12 week) and medium (3-12 month) plans to facilitate business deliverables in line with district plans which are devised to minimise outages to customers. Compliance with IBE/SPEN processes and procedures in line with business codes of practice. Liaise with other District management teams to allow for the effective delivery of the wider SPEN Licence objectives. Lead and integrate asset stewardship and ownership values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning and delivery activities to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network. Liaise with other Heads of Delivery / Planning to allow for the effective management of the wider license objectives. Promote and drive exemplary health and safety culture and performance to ensure safe and efficient delivery of all works associated with the overall district delivery plan. To lead and manage teams to ensure each individual’s potential is fully developed and inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs. Deliver depot management activities and responsibilities as allocated within Organisational Arrangements documentation as required by the business to ensure effective depot management across the operational depot aligned to the district. Manage the integration of Operational Excellence principles in all undertakings Ensure the accurate and timely capture and recording of data within Corporate systems Ensure customer records are accurately maintained within Corporate systems and that all customer interactions are recorded Manage Project Closure process in line with Business expectations. Operations & Maintenance Deliver maintenance and reliability, system performance and network security business plan outputs in line with financial unit cost drivers, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through appropriate system performance and customer service incentive mechanisms. Customer Projects Deliver connections business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising profitability and return through incentive mechanisms. Investment Deliver a portfolio of capital investment projects and associated regulatory outputs, integrating the priorities and requirements of customer service, capital delivery, incentive mechanisms What you’ll bring Expert knowledge of standards required of construction and maintenance works in accordance with regulatory requirements. Contract & SLA management and general commercial & regulatory awareness with the ability to balance customer service, operational delivery and efficient financial performance. Proven experience of managing, motivating, coaching and developing teams to ensure each individual’s potential is fully developed and to inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs. Project / programme management experience, with a strong performance ethos and a track record of driving and delivering projects and initiatives. Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management. Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering leading role within a utility environment. Minimum Criteria Engineering/professional qualification or equivalent experience.
