Job Summary
This opportunity is for a Senior Neonatal Nursing Sister within a level 3 neonatal unit at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The role involves providing specialist neonatal clinical care and leadership for the nursing team with a particular specialist interest in quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage nursing and support teams, driving high standards of patient care.
* Champion infection prevention and control, clinical governance and evidence-based practice.
* Act as a role model, demonstrating trust values and accountable clinical practice.
* Support staff through training, development and performance management, ensuring a confident and competent workforce.
* Provide clinical supervision and lead emergency situations as required.
* Coordinate infant discharge/transfer and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver family‑centred care.
* Promote health education within the clinical area for families and lead implementation of local policies and guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
* First Level Qualification – RGN, RSCN, RN Child Branch.
* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Recognised qualification in a specialty course.
* Degree in Nursing (desirable).
* Experience in neonatal intensive care and demonstrated leadership and management skills.
* Experience in recruitment, selection and personnel management (essential).
* Knowledge of hospital budgets, HR processes and evidence-based practice (desirable).
Contract & Remuneration
* Band 7 – Salary £47,810 to £54,710 per annum pro‑rated.
* Permanent contract.
* Full‑time or part‑time (permitted).
