Our client is recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join their law firm in Solihull, West midlands.
The role is responsible for managing the firms office and client accounts, ensuring full compliance with SRA regulations and solicitors accounts rules.
The Role
You will carry out daily financial and accounting tasks, including managing client funds, processing payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role also involves supporting the Finance Manager and the wider team to ensure efficient accounting processes and robust compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Accounting for client and office financial transactions via cash, cheques, BACS, and CHAPS
• Control of disbursements and petty cash
• Maintenance of nominal and purchase ledgers, including processing staff expense reimbursements
• Bank reconciliations, client account reconciliations, and month/year-end routines
• Oversee all banking arrangements and arrange timely cost transfers
• Recommend improvements to accounting procedures
• Supervise and train staff in understanding accounting systems
• Identify circumstances that may give rise to money laundering or fraud
The Candidate
• Experience handling solicitors accounts with thorough knowledge of the solicitors accounts rules
• Experience with computerised accounts systems and time recording software
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong numerical, problem-solving, and verbal skills
• Ability to work independently, manage responsibility, and adapt to changing priorities
• Committed to maintaining confidentiality of all client documentation and information
