Applications are invited for five Registrar (ST3+)-level Trust Doctor positions within the Specialty and Integrated Medicine Clinical Service Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The posts, which are available for immediate start and fixed-term until 4th August 2026, are ideally suited to resident doctors who have completed Internal Medicine Training (or equivalent) and are looking for more experience before entering a formal Higher Specialty Training programme.
The successful applicants will predominantly work within the Leeds Centre for Older Peoples Medicine, which covers a Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Frailty Unit, Acute Medical Units, and multiple in-patient Specialty Wards, as well as providing support to community-based services. Excellent training will therefore be provided in the management of acutely unwell and deteriorating patients, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, rehabilitation, multidisciplinary teamworking, and discharge planning. Out-of-hours, our Registrar-level doctors also contribute to the acute unselected take, providing experience in a broad range of general medical presentations.
As well as delivering direct clinical care, the postholders will be expected to provide advice and guidance to resident doctors working at Foundation and Internal Medicine Training Year 1 / 2-level. They will also help to develop, and contribute to, our active weekly teaching programme.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Completion of Internal Medicine Training Year 1 and 2 competencies (or equivalent).
Completion of the MRCP(UK) diploma (or equivalent).
At least 12-months' experience working within the NHS with relevant clinical experience in Acute / General and / or Elderly Medicine.

DUTIES OF THE POST
* To ensure high quality and safe care of patients within the department resulting in excellent clinical outcomes.
* To contribute directly to patient care by, for example, reviewing patients, organising investigations and acting on results, initiating and changing treatment, and speaking to patients and their relatives/carers about their illness and clinical progress.
* To undertake essential administrative duties, including prescribing, writing electronic discharge letters, and liaising with colleagues in primary care.
* To contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working collaboratively with a large team of allied healthcare professionals, including specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and discharge coordinators.
LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The post-holder will be expected to work at the level of a Registrar (ST3 equivalent). They will have access to supervision and support from a Consultant Physician at all times.
TEACHING AND RESEARCH/STUDY AND TRAINING
Opportunities will be provided to join our audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance programme, as well as our departmental educational meetings.
There will be opportunity to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Study leave is available, at the discretion of Educational Supervisors, for courses/training related to Acute, General and Elderly Medicine.
