School Business Manager Location: Belfast School of Theology is located within Stranmillis University College, Belfast. This role is mainly site-based with some flexibility. Salary: £36,300 per annum Contract: Permanent, Full-time, 36.25 hours per week About Belfast School of Theology Charity Jobs NI are delighted to be exclusively representing Belfast School of Theology in the search for a new School Business Manager. Belfast School of Theology has been providing academic evangelical theological education since 1943. The School is committed to serving the Church globally and training Christian disciples who transform wider society through their life and witness. This is a unique opportunity to join a respected Christian institution in a key leadership role at the heart of its ongoing development. The Role The School Business Manager is a key leadership role within the organisation, responsible for overseeing the effective running of the Schools business functions and supporting its long-term sustainability. This is a broad and strategic post, with responsibility across finance, operations, governance, compliance, HR, systems, and organisational support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership experience and a background in areas such as business management, operations, finance, organisational leadership, administration, or a related discipline. Candidates may currently be working as a School Business Manager, Operations Manager, Business Manager, Finance and Operations Manager, Head of Operations, or in a similar senior organisational leadership role. Key areas of responsibility will include: leading financial planning, budgeting, reporting, cash flow forecasting, and year-end audit processes providing financial oversight and promoting strong financial discipline across the organisation overseeing governance, compliance, policy review, and risk management managing supplier contracts, insurance arrangements, and key operational relationships overseeing IT, academic administration, safeguarding, pastoral care support, and health and safety leading HR practices, recruitment, appraisal, employee relations, and staff development managing finance and operations staff and contributing to the wider strategic leadership of the School About You This role will suit a capable, values-led and highly organised leader who can work across a wide range of business functions in a small but ambitious organisation. You will ideally bring: a relevant professional qualification, degree, or substantial equivalent experience in finance, accounting, business management, operations, leadership and management, HR, governance, or another related field significant experience in a leadership or management role with responsibility for organisational operations, finance, business support services, or a combination of these areas experience of budget management and financial oversight, with the ability to use financial information to support planning and decision-making strong leadership and people management skills, including experience of managing staff or teams working knowledge of HR management and employment practices working knowledge of health and safety management within an organisational setting experience of contributing to or operating as part of a senior leadership team strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365, and experience using business or financial systems a proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to strengthen systems, processes, and ways of working over time A health and safety qualification, such as IOSH, would be advantageous but is not essential. Christian Commitment Belfast School of Theology is a Christian institution, and there is an occupational requirement for the postholder to be a committed Christian. The successful candidate will be expected to actively support and promote the Schools Christian ethos, values, and mission, and to contribute to the spiritual life of the organisation. The successful postholder will also be required to sign the Schools Statement of Faith.
