HGV Driver Class 2
Department: Operations / Logistics
Reports To: Operational In charge
Shift Pattern: 3 days a week, approximately 25 hours. Occasional Additional days to cover holidays.
Purpose of the Position
To safely transport customer materials and finished plated products between customer sites and the company facility while complying with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities & Operational Duties
* Drive company truck to collect customer parts for plating.
* Deliver completed plated work back to customers in a timely manner.
* Ensure all goods are properly secured to prevent damage during transport.
* Verify quantities and job details during collection and delivery.
* Obtain customer signatures on delivery/collection documents.
* Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel usage, and delivery documentation.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
The Driver shall:
* Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
* Follow all road safety laws and traffic regulations at all times.
* Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections (brakes, tires, lights, horn, mirrors, fluid levels, etc.) before operation.
* Report vehicle defects immediately and refrain from operating unsafe vehicles.
* Ensure loads are properly secured according to safe loading practices.
* Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on customer sites or within the production facility (e.g., safety shoes, reflective vest, gloves, helmet where required).
* Follow safe manual handling procedures when loading and unloading materials.
* Report all incidents, near-misses, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
* Participate in safety training, toolbox meetings, and emergency drills.
* Ensure no unauthorized passengers are transported in the company vehicle.
* Avoid the use of mobile phones while driving (except hands-free where legally permitted).
* Not operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that may impair driving ability.
Environmental Responsibilities
* Prevent spillage or environmental contamination during transport.
* Ensure proper handling of materials that may contain chemicals or plating residues.
* Follow company environmental protection procedures.
Requirements
* Valid driving license (appropriate class for company truck).
* Clean driving record.
* Physically fit and capable of loading/unloading materials safely.
* Basic understanding of industrial materials handling preferred.
* Responsible, reliable, and safety-conscious.
Authority
The Driver has the authority to:
* Refuse to operate any vehicle deemed unsafe.
* Report unsafe working conditions without fear of retaliation.
