An exciting opportunity exists within the Surgery Directorate to lead and manage the performance and business of the Prosthetic, Orthotic, Environmental Control, and Wig services. The post holder will work as a key member of the service's leadership team, collaborating with clinical colleagues to develop and deliver high-quality patient care.
The Dorset Prosthetics Centre provides prosthetic services to patients of all ages with limb loss. We offer a range of prosthetic options to meet the needs of patients with upper and lower limb loss, including multiple limb loss.
Our services include pre-and post-natal care, pre- and post-amputation support, services for patients who may not be limb-wearing but have amputation-related issues, and second opinions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Risk and Governance Lead to embed the quality governance agenda within the Directorate, promoting a proactive approach to governance involvement.
2. Act as a Senior Manager within the Surgery Directorate Management Team, working to meet the objectives of both the Directorate and Care Group, aligned with the Trust’s vision, values, and strategy.
3. Be accountable for the direct delivery of three distinct services: Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Environmental Controls, providing specialist services for rehabilitation, treatment, and equipment provision for patients with severe and complex disabilities. Services are delivered both on trust premises and in the community.
4. Collaborate with Commissioners in the CCG, Area Team, and NHS England to ensure services meet national and local specifications and CQINN targets, providing compliance information to the Trust.
5. Manage the Prosthetic and Orthotic contract to ensure service standards are met and providers adhere to contractual and Trust policies.
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD, underpinning our interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues. UHD is investing in service development following recent mergers and the New Hospital Programme, which may involve site relocations. Interviewers will be happy to discuss these changes during the interview process.
Please note: If the role or service relocates as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the employee’s home to the new work site will be considered a normal commute. Other changes not related to relocation will be managed according to relevant Trust or national terms and conditions.
