Now, we’re looking for a Catering Assistant with passion, positivity, and a people-first attitude to join our friendly café team at the YMCA Hawker Centre – a buzzing hub of community activity right on the banks of the Thames.
About the Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our café. You will be responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages to a high standard, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and delivering excellent customer service at all times.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a socially focused organisation, where your work supports the wellbeing of young people and families in the local community.
What You’ll Do
Prepare and serve food and beverages with care and attention
Deliver exceptional customer service in a busy, community-focused café
Keep all café and dining areas clean, tidy, and inviting
Assist with stock management, food deliveries,
Ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety are always maintained
Operate and handle transactions accurately
Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and energetic team
What We’re Looking For
Experience in a café, catering, or customer service role (preferred but not essential – training will be provided!)
A team player with great communication and people skills
Someone who’s enthusiastic, reliable, and ready to get stuck in
A flexible approach – able to work weekends, evenings, and bank holidays
A commitment to upholding YMCA values and being a positive role model in the community
