We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Home Care Assistant to provide support to our Service User, a 91-year-old individual with early-stage dementia. The Service User is fully capable but requires assistance with daily activities to ensure their well-being and safety. The Home Care Assistant will be responsible for visiting the Service User nine times a week to assist them with getting out of bed, washing, and taking medication in the morning. Additionally, a dinner call is requested to ensure the Service User has eaten dinner and taken their night tablets, although this is not essential. Light cleaning tasks, such as tidying kitchen surfaces and stripping bedding, may also be required.
The Service User's dementia manifests in repetitive behavior and occasional short-term memory lapses, though their long-term memory remains intact. They have recently started using a frame due to drop foot but are mobile with assistance. Previous carers assisted the Service User with activities such as getting in and out of bed, washing, and dressing. While the Service User can manage their meals independently, occasional prompting may be needed to ensure they take their medication.
