Job Details

Job Title: Part Time Facilities Assistant

Location: Heath Farm College, Maidstone ME16 0ER

Salary: £21,125.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks per year

Start: September 2025

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Facilities Assistant to join our close-knit team at Heath Farm College, part of Acorn Education.


The Role

The Facilities Assistant at Heath Farm College will provide a general maintenance, health and safety, security, porterage and cleaning service to the site. The successful candidate will also be expected to keep up to date with all mandatory training and personal development.


Key Responsibilities

* Carry out maintenance of college buildings i.e. minor repairs, painting, carpentry work etc. as directed by the line manager
* Undertake basic handy person duties as necessary
* Carry out minor maintenance of college grounds (e.g. repair fencing, clearing drains etc.)
* Ensure all company tools and equipment are kept in good working order and stored appropriately
* Provide a fleet maintenance and transport service for staff with Heath Farm Facilities Department colleagues
* Support with transport as required
* Report any incidents and accidents in accordance with Heath Farm policies and procedures
* Carry out an inspection of all college fleet vehicles on a weekly basis, reporting issues to the Head of College

* Ability to carry out straightforward handyperson duties
* Ability to organise work to minimise disruption to staff and pupils
* Effective communication skills
* Ability to work on own initiative and manage own time

We offer a unique environment where students can progress in personal development and education. Heath Farm College is in Maidstone and supports up to 58 students. The provision offers a professional post-16 provision for students with EHCPs not ready for a large FE college or large school.

4DWW note: You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, subject to probation.
