Overview
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Planning Engineer to join their pre-contract tender division, supporting civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the region. This position is well-suited to individuals with a strong site engineering background who are looking to transition into, or further develop, a pre-construction and planning role. The successful candidate will use their practical knowledge to advise on buildability, develop bid-winning methodologies, and produce detailed construction programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert input on planning, programming, and construction methodologies, offering practical solutions to engineering challenges.
* Prepare compliant programmes and supporting documentation in line with tender requirements and project constraints.
* Evaluate and present alternative construction strategies to strengthen bid submissions.
* Assist with bid writing and development of tender support documents.
* Review subcontractor and design packages for buildability, efficiency, and compliance, liaising with technical teams where required.
* Maintain an up-to-date awareness of industry standards, innovations, and legislative changes.
* Collaborate effectively with estimators, design managers, and bid writers to deliver technically robust, competitive proposals.
Skills & Experience Required
* Substantial experience in civil engineering, ideally gained through a site-based background (e.g., Site Engineer, Section Engineer, or similar).
* Minimum HNC (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* Competent user of Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project (training can be provided).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interpret complex engineering information.
* Excellent technical understanding of temporary works, sequencing, and buildability.
* Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
