Overview

Cambridgeshire County Council Targeted Support Service provides support to children, young people, and their families. Each district team consists of Family Workers, Child and Family Centre Workers, Young People Workers, Senior Transitions Advisors, Transitions Advisors, Client Researchers and managers. The role of Child and Family Centres is to improve outcomes for all children, from pre-birth to age 19, and to reduce inequalities in outcomes between children growing up in disadvantage and the wider population. Child and Family Centres provide a focus for multi-agency teams to deliver integrated services to young children and their families. We have 1 x 37hr full time post within Huntingdonshire Child and Family Centres team. This post will be based at our Huntingdon Youth Child and Family Centre but working across the district in St Ives, Ramsey, Sawtry, Huntingdon and surrounding villages, with occasional travel to St Neots. Occasional evening and weekend working.

Responsibilities

With a particular focus on the 0-5 age group, Child and Family Centre Workers provide support to children and families to access information, advice and guidance, play, support and learning opportunities in both targeted and universal group settings. Support will be delivered in Child and Family Centres, Family Hubs and outreach venues within the wider community. You will be required to hold a full and valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle or have the ability to travel efficiently between locations. You may be required to work evenings and weekends to support delivery of the Child and Family Centre offer.

Skills and experience

* Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.
* Understanding of child protection policies and procedures and the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Direct experience of working with children aged 0-5 years and their families.
* Practical knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable families and awareness of the issues faced by practitioners.
* Experience of facilitating group sessions for parents.
* Experience of providing information, advice and signposting services to families.
* Experience of engaging parents in community activities.
* Ability to carry out routine administration (e.g., attendance records and evaluations).
* Competent in the use of IT software including Word, Excel, social media and data reporting systems.
* Willingness to travel locally and across the county.
* Able to work flexibly to support delivery, including some evening and weekend work as required.
* Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and how this applies to this role.
