Job Description Position - Engine Test Technician - ATU Technician Salary - £28,000 to £40,000 per annum depending on experience Location - Kent Job purpose The position of Technician requires the need to support all facets of testing, across the Centre Of Excellence test facility, the facilities include Engine Test (Performance & Validation), Vehicle Test, Rig Test (Performance & Validation), Specialist Environmental rigs, NVH rigs and FIE (fuel injection equipment) build. Key responsibilities Duties will include, but are not limited to: - Be part of the facility test Engine test, Rig test and specialist test facilities. Initial setup of tests in terms of mechanical installation. Support software and instrumentation setup and maintenance through the test process. Maintenance of tests under test on the facility, planned interventions, servicing and repairs. Test program editing. Work in a safe manner observing safety protocols for the given area. Work to the given processes (documented). Maintain the product under test, first stage diagnostics. Disassemble and build of product. Product knowledge in terms of function. General facility support. Be a motivated team member. What we’re looking for Mandatory Intermediate mechanical fitting skills Basic knowledge of fuel injection system functionality Basic Instrumentation set-up / operational skills Basic data acquisition skills Intermediate computer (MS office) skills Basic test equipment programming – examples: (AVL Puma / National Instruments / editing skills) Basic engine function understanding Either or both: Basic rig function understanding / Basic engine test bed understanding Good Communication skills Basic RISK assessment skills Desirable Advanced mechanical fitting skills Intermediate knowledge of fuel injection system functionality Intermediate instrumentation set-up / operational skills Intermediate data acquisition / manipulation skills Advanced Computer (MS office) skills Intermediate test equipment programming (AVL Puma / National Instruments) / editing skills Intermediate engine function understanding Intermediate rig function understanding Intermediate engine test bed understanding Coaching / training skills Facility calibration skills Basic problem-solving skills QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE Mandatory Apprenticeship (Mechanical) or proven internal track record for internal applicants. Apprenticeship in a supporting area (software / electronics).
