Requirements
* You've probably spent time frustrated that the platform you inherited couldn't move as fast as the business needed. You know what good looks like because you've built it before - and you're hungry to do it again at a company where the ambition matches yours
* You're genuinely passionate about how backend systems work and energised by the challenge of making complex infrastructure feel elegant - for customers, for ops teams and for the business. You don't need to have worked in subscriptions or fintech before; you need to care deeply about how things work under the hood and have the product instinct to make them better
* You're already using AI in your day-to-day work, even if your current employer hasn't caught up. You see it as the thing that lets a small, focused team punch well above its weight
* A track record of owning complex backend or platform products and moving the metrics that matter
* Strong SQL skills and a habit of digging into data yourself rather than waiting for an analyst
* The ability to bring engineering, operations, finance and commercial teams with you
* The judgement to balance platform rigour with product pace; you know when to build for scale and when to ship and learn
* A genuine curiosity about how AI can supercharge platform work and the habit of reaching for these tools yourself
* Bonus: experience thinking through new proposition launches or multi-market platform design
What the job involves
* This is a high-impact PM role reporting directly to Raylo's Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer
* You'll own the subscription platform domain - the billing, asset management, logistics and reporting infrastructure that the entire business runs on
* Your work will directly impact unit economics, new proposition launches, lender relationships and our ability to expand beyond the UK
* There's real scope to shape the role, and AI is changing what's possible in every area you'll own
* You’ll be part of a close-knit product, engineering and design team. Designers obsess over taste, systems and service design. Product managers stay focused on value and what customers actually need, using quick, throwaway AI-assisted prototypes to test ideas before real code gets written
* Our engineers do what great engineers love most: they build. They use the best harness available, often Claude Code, and let AI take the first pass. When AI isn’t up to scratch, they go hands on the keyboard. AI accelerates their work, but craft, judgement and ownership stay with the engineer. All production code gets a final human review
* The team is organised into focused squads, partnering closely with the business. We care about outcomes more than process. AI is compressing execution, so rigid long-term roadmaps matter less than they used to. But north stars still matter. We know where we’re going. How we get there is increasingly fluid
* Raylo's subscription platform is the engine behind everything we offer - new propositions, new markets, and the unit economics that let us keep prices competitive and grow fast. This role owns that engine: billing, asset management, forward and reverse logistics, and the reporting infrastructure that underpins our lending relationships
* Billing and payments - owning the systems that capture payments reliably at scale, handle retries, manage failures, and keep revenue leakage low; and shipping new billing features that unlock new proposition types, pricing models and commercial structures as the business evolves
* Lender reporting - owning the data and reporting infrastructure that keeps our lending partners informed and compliant; as we scale and expand, getting this right is critical to maintaining the financing relationships that power the whole model
* Asset management - maximising the value of every device across its lifecycle, from first subscription through upgrade, return, refurbishment and resale; device residual values are a core unit economic lever and this role owns the product that drives them; AI is increasingly part of how we make smarter, faster asset decisions
* Forward and reverse logistics - customers expect devices to arrive on time and returns to be frictionless; you'll own the product experience and operational integrations that make that true, consistently
* New propositions - as Raylo expands what it offers, you'll be the platform PM who makes new launches possible; figuring out what needs to be built, what can be reused, and how to ship fast without creating technical debt that slows the next launch
* Geographic expansion - as Raylo moves beyond the UK, you'll lead the platform thinking that makes expansion repeatable without rebuilding from scratch
* This role has a direct line to unit economics and business growth. Done well, it keeps prices down, reduces churn, protects margins and makes every new proposition or market we enter faster and cheaper to launch
* Some of what you'll own - lender reporting, logistics, billing infrastructure - are domains where AI is unlocking entirely new ways of working. We expect you to use that to move faster than feels possible and to enjoy doing it
* This role reports directly to Raylo's Co-Founder and CPO. We're still a startup - fast-moving, high-ownership, and at a stage where the decisions you make this year will shape the platform for the next five. There's plenty to do, and a lot of it is yours to define. If you want to inherit a well-defined role and optimise at the margins, this isn't it. If you want to build something that matters and put your stamp on it, it is
