Governors are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, inspirational and highly motivated Deputy Head of Science to join our strong, forward-thinking, successful science team.
You will work alongside the Head of Department in a supportive and enthusiastic department that inspires both learners and colleagues to reach their full potential. There are currently 7 full time Science teachers plus a full-time laboratory technician. The department has 7 fully equipped laboratories and one demonstration room.
We welcome applications from candidates who:
· are capable of teaching to an A* GCSE standard in at least one of the Science specialism
· can co-ordinate our KS3 Science curriculum
· are able to demonstrate a track record of generating and sustaining positive change and impact as a teacher
· are passionate about the teaching of science to all age and ability of learners
· deliver creative and engaging lessons which challenge and inspire learners
· are reflective practitioners, always willing to refine and improve their practice, with the highest expectations of themselves and those around them
· are resilient and driven to ensure that every learner reaches their potential

Islwyn High School is situated near Blackwood in Gwent. The school was purpose built in 2017 comprising a single three storey building. Its modern design includes state of the art facilities for subjects such as Science and Technology, a full-size sports hall, performance hall and music suite, as well as a floodlit 4G sports pitch and fitness suite. IT and audio-visual facilities available in all classrooms reflect significant investment in the teaching and learning environment for our pupils.
