About the Role Empowering Learning are seeking a compassionate, motivated Psychology Graduate to join our team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to apply psychological theory to real-world practice and gain hands-on experience supporting children with a diverse range of additional needs. Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals, you will play a key role in helping pupils to access learning, build confidence, and develop essential social, emotional, and behavioural skills. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social, emotional & mental health needs. Implement personalised learning strategies and behaviour support plans. Assist the class teacher in adapting resources to ensure inclusive learning. Promote emotional wellbeing and help pupils develop coping and self-regulation techniques. Observe, monitor and record student progress, contributing to assessments and reviews. Help create a safe, encouraging and nurturing learning environment. About You A degree (or pending degree) in Psychology or a related field. A genuine interest in child development, special educational needs, and inclusive education. Strong communication, patience and empathy. Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff. A proactive, reflective and flexible approach to supporting learning.
