The purpose of this post is to increase the number of patients participating in clinical trials at Cardiff and Vale UHB. The post will contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will include the recruitment, education, monitoring of trial patients, and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
The post holder will work with Lead Nurses and multidisciplinary teams within the Haematology directorate, as well as the wider research teams, assisting with managing a caseload of clinical trials patients. Responsibilities include identifying suitable patients for clinical trials by attending clinics (screening notes) and relevant Multi-disciplinary Team meetings, using clinical knowledge, inclusion/exclusion criteria, NHS records, and visiting wards and outpatients.
Working autonomously, the post holder will assist in managing the caseload of clinical trial patients while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Effective communication with patients, carers, and professionals is essential to ensure high-quality service delivery. The role involves providing continuity of care throughout the research study, offering specific advice and support, and referring to specialists as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.
