We are seeking a Technical Estimator to join our engineering team on a permanent basis. This role will play a key part in supporting the technical function, with a strong emphasis on metallic forming processes such as press forming and sheet metal fabrication. The successful candidate will be instrumental in cost engineering and continuous process improvement, contributing to accurate cost modelling, supporting quotation activities, and driving efficiency across our manufacturing operations. Main duties: · Read and understand Technical/Engineering drawings and related documentation. · Determining the most optimum and efficient manufacturing processes pertaining to all work centres which involves the use of software to create optimum operation sequences for the internal Bill of Material (BoMs). · Use estimating software to establish cycle times, set up times, work centre costs and lead times of assembly, fabrication, and complex machined parts. · Use CAD software to visualise parts, extract dimensions and read annotations · Assist production and engineering with continuous improvement activities relating to production processes · Compliant with Attewell HSE policy and maintain good 6S and housekeeping. · Liaise with other departments as necessary. Essential: · 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment. · Proven experience in metallic sheet forming operations, including: o Proficiency in press brake operation, roll forming, stamping, and other forming operations. o Familiarity with material properties and behaviour during forming (e.g., springback, grain direction, work hardening). o Experience of forming tools and dies for repeatable, high-quality output. o Knowledge of forming tolerances, surface finish requirements, and defect mitigation strategies. · Good understanding of fabrication, CNC machining, and assembly processes. · Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T, and apply tooling concepts to estimate production feasibility and cost. Desirable: · Degree qualified or equivalent in engineering or similar field of study. · ERP experience (Preferably using SAP). · Knowledge and use of estimating software · Good use of CAD systems and an understanding of CADCAM processes · Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Intermediate to Advanced) and word.
