Academic Manager (Summer)
Fixed‑term contract June – August 2026, 8‑10 weeks. Full‑time 6 days a week. Accommodation and full board provided if necessary.
EF Bournemouth Summer School seeks an energetic and organized individual to lead academic activities this summer. The role involves working with the school management team and teachers to deliver an exceptional programme for students, ensuring quality of academic provision, supporting lesson planning, tracking attendance, maintaining facilities and materials, observing lessons and providing feedback. The Academic Manager is the academic face of the school, visible to and available for students, and collaborates with the Centre Manager and Activities Manager to deliver a seamless summer experience.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the summer management team to deliver an exceptional experience to students, taking overall responsibility for the academic programme.
* Schedule all classes, including students and rooms, using the school computer systems.
* Lead a team of 20+ teachers, supporting them to deliver lessons to exceptional standards through regular meetings and feedback sessions.
* Observe lessons and discuss feedback to ensure ongoing teacher development.
* Share emergency duty on a rota basis.
* Line‑manage an Academic Coordinator.
* Set up and run graduation ceremonies and coordinate the required administration.
Requirements
* Minimum of a TEFL qualification (CELTA preferred).
* Strong leadership skills with some management or team‑leading experience.
* Commitment to the highest level of customer service.
* Sociable, fun disposition with the ability to motivate and energise others.
* Financial and business acumen.
* Live‑in position with accommodation and full board provided at no extra cost.
* Excellent English communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and thrive under pressure.
* Clear DBS check and two references.
* Right to work in the UK upon commencement of the contract.
