Working hours: Mon - Thu 7:00 - 3:30 & Friday 7:00-12:00

We are currently seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our growing team, to produce CNC programs for various milling & turning machines.
Purpose of the role and key accountabilities
A CNC Programmer is responsible for programming milling & turning machines to produce precision components and parts. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC technology, machining processes, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimise CNC programs.
General Responsibilities
* Develop and modify CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
* Understand machining processes in milling and turning.
* Read technical design drawings to produce 3D models & 2D drawings.
* Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for specific machining tasks.
* Design and implement tooling/fixtures to enhance production processes.
* Liaise with tooling manufacturers/suppliers.

* Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for specific machining tasks.
* Design and implement tooling and fixtures to enhance production processes.
Documentation
* Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, tooling, and machine setups.
* Document any modifications or adjustments made to CNC programs.
Safety and Compliance
* Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
* Participate in safety training and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
Collaboration
* Work closely with production and engineering teams to understand job requirements.
* Provide input on process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
Quality
* Ensure compliance with AS9100 Rev D and customer-specific aerospace standards.
* Validate all CNC programs using virtual simulation and verification software to prevent collisions, gouging, or over‑travel.
* Participate in First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102 requirements, verifying that machined components meet all drawing tolerances and process specifications.
* Maintain 100% traceability of CNC programs, revisions, tool lists, and setup documentation.
* Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Production to resolve nonconformances (NCRs) and implement corrective actions.
* Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and contribute to risk mitigation for machining processes.
* Ensure all documentation (setup sheets, inspection reports, revision logs) aligns with Document Control Procedures.
Cost
* Contribute to cost efficiency, process optimization, and waste reduction while maintaining compliance with aerospace quality standards and engineering specifications.
Delivery
* Deliver CNC programs, process documentation, and related technical outputs on time, in full, and right the first time in accordance with project schedules, production needs, and customer delivery commitments.
People
* Reports directly to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
* Supports Design Engineering during DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews.
Core skills/attributes
* Knowledge of Solidworks & Alphacam (Desirable).
* Heidenhain & Fanuc programming (Desirable).
Qualifications and Skills
* HNC/City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Apprenticeship Qualification.
* Certification in CNC programming or machining may be advantageous.
* Minimum 3–5 years experience as an Offline CNC Programmer in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
Measurable performance indicators / objectives of role
* Regular reviews and an annual PDR to assess performance, progress and development.
* Additional reviews may discuss ongoing training needs.
