Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts.
The Mount Rogers Health District is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Office Services Specialist to support daily operations at the Bristol City Health Department in Bristol, VA. This role provides essential administrative and program support by applying established policies and procedures to ensure smooth workflow within the unit. Key responsibilities include scheduling meetings, performing data entry, processing routine transactions, preparing correspondence, maintaining records, ordering supplies, and assisting with general office tasks. The specialist will also help clients and visitors by answering questions about available program services and directing inquiries to the appropriate office or resource.
As the first point of contact for the program area, the Office Services Specialist plays a critical role in delivering professional and courteous service to the public and staff. The position may also manage timesheets and enter employee time and leave into the timekeeping and payroll systems for the assigned program area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who excels in organization, communication, and providing dependable administrative support within a public health environment.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of office and administrative principles and practices
• Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications
• Ability to interpret and follow established procedures and guidelines
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing
• Considerable skill in the operation of standard office equipment
