Job Summary
Students will assist with research activities and data collection on a Fall 2025 Research Study. The job predominantly involves animal and arthropod handling and may include some laboratory work for those interested. Pre-Vet, Animal Science, or other science major preferred but not required. No previous experience is necessary. Must be able to work a minimum of 8 to 15 hours per week. Three-hour blocks of time or longer are best. Several student workers are needed for this study.
Essential Functions
Student assistants working in the Parasitology Group lab(s) are involved in many aspects of research. Their duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist with research activities
• Daily observations of animals and/or arthropods
• Maintenance and propagation of various parasites and/or arthropods
• Conducting diagnostic tests and reporting results
• Handling and restraint of animals
• Data collection and recording
• Collection of specimens (e.g. blood)
· Perform general lab tasks and other assigned duties
This project may require students to perform unique duties that are protocol specific. All students undergo supervised training by experienced laboratory personnel until they are fully trained and competent.

Minimum Qualifications
Students can be first-semester freshmen currently enrolled at Auburn University, able to perform somewhat strenuous physical work, and able to work weekends, holidays, and semester breaks.
