Full-Time | 37.5 hours per week
Includes weekend, bank holiday, and out-of-hours work on a rota basis
We are looking for a skilled and committed Registered Manager to lead a children's home that provides care and support for young people with complex needs, often shaped by early trauma and attachment disruption. This is an exciting opportunity to shape high-quality, therapeutic residential care and ensure children thrive in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the Registered Manager under Ofsted regulations, ensuring the home meets or exceeds all legislative and quality standards.
* Provide strong, emotionally intelligent leadership to a residential care team, modelling best practice and accountability.
* Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all safeguarding responsibilities are fully embedded and risks well-managed.
* Oversee and contribute to care planning, quality assurance, and therapeutic support tailored to each child's individual needs.
* Lead and prepare for Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44 visits, and complete Regulation 45 Quality of Care reviews.
* Drive performance through effective supervision, appraisal, recruitment, staff development, and training delivery - including becoming a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Trainer.
* Monitor medication, petty cash, procurement processes, building safety, and team rotas.
* Support staff well-being following challenging incidents through structured debriefs and reflective supervision.
Essential Criteria for Shortlisting
* At least 2 years' experience in the last 5 years working in a role relevant to residential care of children.
* At least 2 years' experience supervising and managing staff in a children's residential setting.
* Care planning and quality assurance.
* Safeguarding and managing risk in complex, high-pressure environments.
* Working with children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and psychological needs.
Required Qualifications
You must hold one of the following (or an equivalent as defined under Annex A of the Children's Homes Regulations):
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (Residential Management Pathway)
* NVQ Level 4 in Leadership and Management for Care Services
Additional Information
* This role involves evening, weekend, bank holiday, and occasional overnight or sleep-in shifts.
* The ability to speak fluent English is essential.
* You must be physically fit and emotionally resilient, able to meet the physical and psychological demands of the role.
