1. To work as a core member of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team providing specialist assessment and therapy to in patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
2. To provide formal supervision and peer support to colleagues
3. To lead on supervision of students

Qualifications
Essential criteria
4. Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
5. RCSLT Dysphagia Competency
6. HCPC registration
7. Evidence of a range of CPD activities including membership of CEN groups
Desirable criteria
8. Videofluoroscopy competencies RCSLT level 3
9. Competence in the assessment and management of patients with tracheostomy
10. Level 1 FEES training
Experience
Essential criteria
11. Independent assessment, management, therapeutic intervention and discharge of patients with communication disorders and dysphagia
12. Providing carer support in healthcare settings
13. Working with a range of conditions including respiratory, neurological conditions, acquired disorders, long-term conditions and care of the elderly in an acute setting
Desirable criteria
14. Supervision of students and junior staff
15. Experience working in critical care
Technical Skills
Essential criteria
16. Skills to assess, manage & treat conditions and patients with complex multi pathologies at specialist level
17. Skills to produce clear written documentation of intervention & reports
18. Skills to independently prioritise clinical and nonclinical workload

Knowledge
Essential criteria
20. Sound understanding of the pathology of neurological conditions, respiratory conditions, older person’s medicine, gastroenterology.
21. Ability to critique evidence base and apply to clinical practice
22. Understanding of Clinical Governance and its relevance to clinical situations
23. Understanding of National Service Frameworks, NICE guidance and National strategy documents

24. Knowledge of pathways for patients with a tracheostomy
