Our Cyber Security Engineers provide technical expertise and hands‑on support to internal teams and customers on security hardening, incident response, and security infrastructure. They must have strong technical skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to implement robust security measures for CloudTech24 and our customers.
The typical day‑to‑day responsibilities of a Cyber Security Engineer involve implementing security hardening measures across infrastructure and applications, answering complex technical questions from customers, responding to security incidents, and providing configuration guidance based on security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Security Hardening
* Design and implement security hardening measures for systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure to reduce attack surface.
* Configure and optimise security controls across environments to align with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
* Advise on security baselines and hardening standards for operating systems, applications, and cloud platforms.
* Work with internal teams to continuously improve the security posture through automation and standardisation.
Technical Customer Support
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers on security configurations, hardening requirements, and security architecture decisions.
* Answer complex technical questions related to security implementations, threat mitigation strategies, and security tool configurations.
* Support customers in achieving certifications by implementing technical controls and providing evidence of security measures.
* Collaborate with projects and engineering teams during customer onboarding to ensure security requirements are met.
* Provide escalation support to analyst teams for complex alerts or incidents requiring deep technical investigation.
* Document incident response procedures and contribute to post‑incident reviews and improvements.
Technical Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
* Serve as a subject matter expert on security tooling capabilities and technical implementations.
* Share technical knowledge with internal teams on security hardening techniques and emerging threats.
* Drive improvements in security tooling when new capabilities become available.
* Provide input into digital transformation or technology‑change initiatives from a security perspective.
Qualifications
Cyber Security & Technical Expertise
* At least two years in a hands‑on cyber security or security engineering role with practical experience .
* Strong understanding of security hardening techniques for operating systems, applications, cloud platforms, and network infrastructure.
* Deep knowledge of cyber threats and their impact on organisations, particularly small to medium businesses.
* Familiarity with security frameworks and their practical application in hardening environments.
* Awareness of attack frameworks and understanding of cyber‑attack chains is beneficial.
* Practical understanding of vulnerability assessment, identification, and remediation processes.
Technical Proficiency
* Hands‑on experience configuring and managing security tools including endpoint detection and response, SIEM platforms, and cloud security solutions.
* Preferred experience with CrowdStrike and IRONSCALES platforms.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Asure security controls; experience with Google Workspace security is desirable.
* Solid understanding of computing fundamentals, networking protocols, and system architecture as foundational knowledge for security implementations.
Certifications (Preferred)
* CompTIA CySA+ or similar security certifications
* Self‑paced security courses or certifications demonstrating continuous learning
Technical Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical skills to assess security risks, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective technical solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent ability to explain technical security concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including customers and stakeholders.
