Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability (NRS) is the largest department of Glasgow City Council. NRS delivers essential services which are designed to help achieve the aim of creating a cleaner, safer, better Glasgow. For example, NRS looks after parks and open spaces, organises large scale events such as the Commonwealth Games, World Cycling Championships and TRNSMT. NRS carries out road maintenance for highways, cycle paths, local walks, etc supported by Civil, Structural and Lighting Engineers and operations staff. NRS collects recycling and waste in all its forms using an extensive fleet which are maintained by their mechanics. NRS monitors air pollution and tests food and other consumables. This apprenticeship is part of the Climate Ready Apprenticeship Program helping Glasgow City Council reach Net Zero by 2030.
Job Description and Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Modern Apprentice to help us deliver clerical and administrative support with the NRS Area teams which provides support for the following NRS services: refuse, waste disposal, parks and open spaces, street cleansing, facilities, roads, lighting, blacksmiths and bereavement services. If you are enthusiastic about working within administration and enjoy learning new skills, with the potential of a long term career within our organisation this could be the job for you and we would welcome your application.
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
* Processing of workload using Microsoft Office packages and other GCC systems on a daily basis
* Working with internal and external partners
* Providing excellent customer service at all times
* Supporting NRS Operational Managers and providing administrative assistance when required
* Communicating with member of the public on occasion
* Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office Packages)
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Be able to work as part of a team
* Adapt to learning new skills
* Reliable, hardworking and shows an enthusiastic positive manner
* Able to produce work to a high standard, with attention to detail and accuracy
* Able to follow instructions from your manager and other colleagues
* Good timekeeping and time management
