Overview
The Clinical Lead Community Dental Service is a managerial and clinical role. Primarily it involves managing the team and delivering a combination of special care and paediatric dentistry for referred patients, many of whom have additional and complex needs. The post includes management responsibilities and supporting clinical colleagues working alongside you. You will provide high quality dental care to special care adults and children with complex additional needs and/or disabilities. The service supports medically compromised patients who require treatment in a community dental service setting, and also offers domiciliary care in patients\' homes, nursing and care settings.
Hours per week: 26.25
Main duties
The post requires advanced knowledge, clinical skills and expertise demonstrated by a postgraduate dental qualification and/or relevant experience in Special Care or Paediatric Dentistry, to lead the service. The post holder will contribute to the planning and development of the service and of colleagues, whilst monitoring performance and activity alongside the Clinical Service Manager and an Operational Manager.

* Full GDC qualification
* BDS qualification or equivalent
* NHS dental performer number for England

Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of a salaried dentist in providing dental treatment to children, young people and adults with additional/complex needs relevant to the specialty.
* Demonstrate current and previous CPD relevant to Specialist and General GDC registration.
* Understand safeguarding and appropriate information sharing; the consent process and management of patients who lack capacity to consent; ability to seek advice and support appropriately.
* Knowledge of the wider dental agenda, clinical governance and the financial framework for the financial modelling of specialist care.
