Description Join Our Team at Corserv Care as a Support Worker for Respite Salary: £13.45 per hour Working Hours: 20 hours per week (Shift pattern a variation of 08:00-15:00, 15:00-2200, 08:00-22:00, 7 days a week, Mon-Sun). About the role: Tregarne & Chy Koes is a 5-bed respite service that supports individuals with physical and/or learning disabilities with short stays that allows meaningful respite for themselves, families and carers. We support approximately 45 service users through our service, no two weeks are the same! Are you an enthusiastic, positive and proactive individual with a passion for supporting people? At Corserv Care we are hiring and looking for a new team member who has great communication skills and a passion for working in a supportive role. We need a colleague who has empathy and caring characteristics, who will support adults with learning and/or physical disabilities achieve their best outcomes possible. We are looking for someone who has fantastic attention to detail, has a warm heart and with self-initiative to problem solve when things are busy. Our environment is different every day, and we are looking for someone to be able to adapt themselves to what the day requires! In this key role, you'll provide vital assistance to people across all aspects of their daily living. This will include dignity and respect for personal care, using a person-centred support plan to enable individuals to engage in activities which promote independence and choice, and supporting with confidence and personal growth. Role Purpose: The Support Worker role is critical to ensuring that the respite services offered by Corserv Care allow individuals to have purposeful and meaningful breaks away from home, with maximise independence and help to meet the outcomes that people want to meet, thus supporting people to live full meaningful lives. What you'll be doing: You will be required to: Encourage individuals in their daily activities and provide appropriate levels of support. Provide support in accordance with that outlined in the individual support plans. Encourage the achievement of personal goals and outcomes as outlined in personal support plans. Be committed to the Safeguarding of all individuals against the risk of abuse or neglect, in compliance with Corserv’s Safeguarding Policy. To work in a way which is caring, empathetic and respectful at all times. To be responsible for secure storage and administering of medication in line with the medication policy. To support individuals in the management of their personal belongings including their money. To be prepared to support individuals to access a range of transport options. To assist individuals in accessing opportunities or experiences both onsite and in the community. To work with other professionals to identify and implement strategies for individuals with higher and more complex needs. To assist with personal care for individuals when appropriate, respecting personal dignity at all times. To support and enable individuals to access advocacy services and when requested support individuals in making their choices. To communicate effectively including taking part in staff meetings, team discussions as required. Attending and chairing reviews or meetings deemed relevant to the role. Carry out basic IT functions such as accessing information via the intranet and maintaining electronic records, writing simple reports and carrying out basic online functions. Reading and writing routine records pertaining to the support of an individual. Liaise with other team members, professionals and carers. To be responsible for your own continuing self-development and undertake relevant training as required to meet the needs of individuals using our service. About you: Qualifications & experience essential criteria: Experience of supporting individuals with personal care and accessing daily activities either in a formal or informal setting. Level 2 or above (or equivalent) e.g., NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social Care or willingness to undertake once appointed. Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office. To be aware of and demonstrate adherence to Policies & Procedures e.g., Code of Conduct, national legislation, Health & Safety, Data Protection, Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Safeguarding. Demonstrates the ability to work as a member of a team supporting service users both onsite and in the community and to participate in and contribute to team meetings. Evidence of the successful use of communication skills and ability to be diplomatic and work on a one-to-one basis both onsite and in the community. Evidence of an approachable manner and an aptitude for supporting people with additional needs. Proven ability to read and write routine reports, records and chairing reviews as needed.
