Management Accountant – Glasgow City Centre

Salary: £45,000 (inclusive of perks and a discretionary bonus scheme)

They are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Management Accountant to join their finance team and contribute to the continued success of the business.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on, business-facing role that goes beyond traditional accounting. You’ll work closely with department managers across the organisation, helping them understand financial data and make informed decisions. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator and natural problem solver, with a proactive mindset and a passion for driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced retail setting.
You’ll report directly to the Financial Controller and Finance Director, playing a key role in shaping financial strategy and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce monthly management accounts, focusing on stock reconciliation and cost of sales, with clear narrative reporting.
* Develop and deliver monthly store performance dashboards, offering insightful analysis to support retail operations.
* Manage cash flow and working capital effectively.
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and balance sheet reconciliations, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Reconcile insurance sales and prepare VAT returns.
* Ensure compliance with store licensing requirements (e.g., second-hand dealer regulations).
* Calculate store commissions and bonuses within tight deadlines.
* Oversee supplier payment runs.
* Prepare statutory year-end accounts and audit schedules.
* Build strong relationships with managers across departments, delivering clear and constructive financial insights.
Candidate Profile
* Fully qualified (ICAS, ACCA, or CIMA).
* Proven experience in management accounting, ideally within retail or stock-focused environments.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solutions-oriented approach.
* Positive, resilient, and able to build rapport quickly.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Advanced Excel proficiency and solid financial systems knowledge.
* Must be available to work on-site full-time (no hybrid or remote options).
