The Oxford Climate Research Network is a network of all climate researchers at the University of Oxford. The goal of the network is to raise the impact, effectiveness and profile of climate research at the University of Oxford, by acting as an internal hub as well as a coordinated point of contact and information for those beyond Oxford. The OCRN coordinator’s role is to develop and administer initiatives which maintain, strengthen and promote the network. The OCRN Coordinator will acquire and maintain an overview of climate-related research at the University of Oxford, seek opportunities for OCRN researchers to collaborate, and connect individuals, research groups and initiatives wherever appropriate. The OCRN coordinator will report to the Steering Group which decides the priorities for the network. They will meet regularly with the network’s Academic Convener (who is Chair of the Steering Group) and are expected to help shape, and provide support for, new initiatives as they arise. About you The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in climate research, impacts and policy and/or in science management and communication. You will be a self-starter, able to work independently using personal initiative and judgement. You will have experience in planning and running events, managing finances, and managing website and social media content, and will also have a willingness to learn IT and digital media skills, as necessary. Excellent spoken and written communication skills are essential for this role, along with the ability to digest complex scientific information and present it effectively to non-academic audiences. You must also have excellent administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills and an ability and willingness to be proactive and think creatively about how to make Oxford climate research into more than the sum of its parts. A degree and/or professional experience in a climate-related discipline, as well as experience of working successfully with academics/researchers and a track record of research network coordination, are desirable but not essential.
