The Role
St John's College is a leading independent school for girls and boys aged 3 to 18. With approximately 500 pupils on its roll, St John’s is also the Choir School to Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Teacher of Chemistry to join our department for a fixed-term from September 2026.
This fixed-term vacancy arises following a series of staff movements, coinciding with maternity cover. We continue to enjoy a strong and stable teaching team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a thriving department, will inspire and develop pupils across the key stages, and contribute to maintaining excellent results.
At GCSE, the majority of our pupils study the separate science pathway and KS5 uptake in Science is the highest in the School. The Science Faculty, which is noted for its academic success, currently comprises 10 teaching staff, and 3 technicians, covering all three disciplines. It is the aim of the team to get pupils to reach the highest possible standard that they can achieve, ensuring that they are well prepared for both internal and external examinations, higher education and the world of work.
