(abd75) About me: I am a wheelchair user with a rare neuromuscular disorder and little body movement. I’m looking for 2 or more people to complete my NHS funded care team and help me have the best days possible.Varied hours and days - see below. About You: No experience necessary as my care and assistance needs are unique as I have a rare health condition and everything needs to be learned specifically for my health and postural needs.
1. Aptitude and willingness to undertake technique and knowledge training around postural care needs is essential for this position.
2. Observant and focused with the ability to remain calm under pressure in an emergency.
3. Able to work during school holidays and cover other staff taking holiday.
4. Dedicated and compassionate.
5. Ability to listen to, and be directed by myself.
6. Have strong English language communication skills including reading, writing and verbally.
7. Confidence to assist someone using 24 hour non invasive ventilation (cleaning equipment, changing from night to day ventilators and responding to any alarms).
The Role:
8. Full care needs – to include personal care, use of ceiling hoist, transfers to the toilet.
9. Postural and positioning support through the day.
10. Meal preparation (basic/blending).
11. Cleaning, laundry and other daily living domestic tasks as directed.
12. Providing attentive support at all times.
13. Occasionally assisting with leisure (crafts, playing board games and light gardening to promote wildlife observation).
14. Occasionally driving my manual car eg to attend appointment.
15. * Mask wearing is required at all times.
How will I learn to do this job?
16. 3 month induction and training programme plus practical training with third person supervision (existing PA or family member).
17. Additional third person supervision until demonstrating competency with reliability and consistency.
18. Daily supervision by the person who you support is then on going.
19. Competency based assessment by external NHS assessor.

22. Hours available to apply for include Wednesday 9-7 (can be split into shifts) and weekends are similar Plus possibility of Thursday 3-6.30 from September .
